Breast Cancer Awareness month
1 in 8 women will develop Breast Cancer over the course of her life. It could be you, your mother, your sister, a close friend of yours or any other person you know. It doesn't even have to be a woman.
Harsh as it sounds, it’s a reality, and it affects both women and men. It is about 100 times less common among men than among women, but The American Cancer Society estimates for breast cancer in men in the US in 2017 are still somewhat high:
- About 2,470 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed
- About 460 men will die from breast cancer
Sadly, there is no cure for Cancer, but there are treatments, there are amazing nonprofit organizations that offer real help to patients, and there are ways of preventing or early detecting it, like regularly testing and performing an auto exam, and something as simple yet extremely important as taking care of your diet.
It’s no secret that a poor diet can lead to several diseases, including Cancer. In fact, diet is thought to be partly responsible for about 30% to 40% of all cancers.
High-fat animal products, grilled meats, processed foods, GMOs, and sugar are Breast Cancer’s worst enemies. According to a study published in the journal BMC Public Health, drinking just three sugar-sweetened beverages a week could make your breasts denser, increasing your risk for breast cancer.
While it’s true that diet isn’t the main or only responsible, - thus, no food could prevent you from getting breast cancer - it’s also well known that some foods can make your body healthier and boost your immune system. A healthy diet will help keep your risk of breast cancer as low as possible, and it will also help you maintain healthy standards while you’re fighting or have won your battle against Breast Cancer.
Everyday we hear stories from survivors who opted for veganism after they were diagnosed with cancer. Now more than ever, we are convinced that the base for a healthy lifestyle is a good diet and nutrition.
Going on a plant-based diet, or at least excluding certain foods and including more superfoods is essential for those trying to prevent and for those fighting Breast Cancer. Yes, your doctor will tell you the same: Go Organic!!!
There is a wide range of healthy foods you can choose from, and they're all so tasty and versatile you will thank yourself for choosing to eat right!
Here's a quick list of The Best Superfoods you can eat to prevent or fight Breast Cancer: Turmeric, Blueberries, Green tea, Broccoli, Flax seeds, Walnuts, Pomegranate, and of course, lots of fruits and veggies! In fact, adding a single tbsp of Wheatgrass to your diet is an effective way to get your quota of 5-9 servings of fruits and veggies a day!
This is a compelling cause for Sun Pyramid Health and we decided to go ALL-IN this month to support it. You could join our Campaign to support this noble cause, too.
